At J.L. Matthews, we are a family-owned business since 1946 and are your one-stop shop for linemen, ironworkers, and arborists. We get it that every project is unique and you need the right tools and equipment to get your job done safely. In these fireside chats we capture stories about customers, vendors, and partners who are a part of J.L. Matthews' ecosystem.
Enjoy this Q & A style interview with Danny Matthews, President of J.L. Matthews and Megan Berry, a representative from Klein Tools.
Danny: Tell us a little about yourself so we can get to know you better.
Megan: I've been working with Klein Tools since August of 2019. I really enjoy it and moved to Illinois to be near the corporate headquarters and fortunately, I get to come to Texas a lot as well. I was raised mostly in Kentucky, and I studied Communications.
Danny: That's interesting. So, what drove you to Klein Tools and made you say, "Hey, I want to work for them."
Megan: I was interested in Klein Tools for a while because I heard that they were family owned and operated, something unique during this day and age, where most businesses are owned by a different entity. I was interested in the tools because I had worked for other companies and always noticed the Klein Tools around, and I used some of them while working with my Dad. So, it was a familiar name, and then seeing the grand scheme of everything they do is really impressive.
Danny: I believe you work in the Utility Division, and you cover part of the United States' electric utility companies, correct?
Megan: Exactly. We visit investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipalities, contractors, and we have the fortune of showing them the newest products and sharing the new features and innovations.
Danny: And you do tradeshows and you get to go out in the field too, right?
Megan: Yes, those are always fun and I get to go out in the field and work with with people in my steel-toed boots and Klein Tools hard hat, of course!
Danny: And then we get to have you in Texas as our Texas rep. So, what states do you do you work in?
Megan: I travel to a variety of states going down the center of the US—Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. And I go a bit east to West Virginia, upstate New York, and western Pennsylvania.
Danny: Thank you for coming out here and participating in this interview with us. Take care.
