NATIONAL LINEMAN APPRECIATION DAY

April 18th is National Linemen Appreciation Day, and while other first responders may take center stage, these men and women who keep the power pumping are on the front lines as well.

Established in 2013, it is a day to honor those who put their lives on the line to keep the lights on.

Linemen work with thousands of volts of electricity, high atop power lines for 24 hours a day to keep electricity flowing to people’s homes and businesses. The work of a lineman can sometimes go unnoticed in the community and the workers do not receive recognition for what they do.

This day may be observed on different dates - for instance, Nebraska marks National Lineman Day on April 12th.
